Parent's Guide to Stress-Free Mornings

  • The night before: Be sure backpacks are packed before the children go to bed.
  • The night before: Have your children lay out what they are going to wear.
  • The night before: Get a head start on lunch or snacks for school.
  • Make sure you and the children get enough sleep.
  • Put some peppy music on.
  • Offer rewards for getting ready without a fuss.
  • Keep breakfast simple.
  • Pack a healthful snack.
  • Set the timer 5 minutes before it is time to leave.

5 Tips How  Not To Embitter Your Child:  

  1. Don't exercising too much control over your child's life so that they have no power over or choice in their lives. 
  2. Don't discipline with anger and guilt. Instead use empathy and consequences. 
  3. Don't forget to meet their needs for love, attention, and time.  
  4. Remember to affirm their successes, instead of only commenting on their failures.  
  5. Don't be too perfectionistic about their performance instead of being pleased with their effort.

Bonding with your child.  Give your child your undivided one-on-one attention for at least 15 minutes every day.  This will help your child feel like they are an important part of your life.
